TRANSPORTATION UPDATE

Kid Drop Off

DROP-OFF BEST PRACTICES

• Drop-off at 8:30am; pickup by 3:30pm

For best practices concerning the safety of students and staff at Trinity Christian High, we are moving the time of earliest arrival for students at the high school campus to 8:30 am (from 8 am). In the afternoon, students must be picked up before 3:30 p.m. If this is a concern for you or your child(ren), contact Mr. Andrew Wilcox, awilcox@trinitychristian.ca

Safe Pick up
& Drop Off

Elementary parents, for morning drop off and afternoon pick up, please park in one of the locations mentioned below  and help your child(ren) get to the back gate safely.

  1. Park at the front of the school and walk your children to the sidewalk on left side.

  2. Park in the side gravel lot and walk your children to the sidewalk on right side.

  3. Park on Dunn street past the school and walk your children along the sidewalk in front of the shed and around to the gate (but not crossing the bus lanes).

We wish to avoid parents parking where the TCS staff park and then parents/students walking between the buses or walking across the bus lane. We have had many close calls between buses and students/parents and we want to point out how dangerous this can be. Thank you on behalf of the Landmark drivers and the Trinity staff. We greatly appreciate your attention to this. Thank you!

NEED TO KNOW · TRANSPORTATION & ROUTINES

• Bus behaviour reminder: please ride respectfully and arrive at stops 10 minutes early. Parents, please remind your students about good behaviour on the buses (staying seated in their seats, keeping noise low, and keeping their hands to themselves) and to always listen to their bus drivers.

• Landmark letter: required when an older sibling walks a younger student to Grade 4. Follow release rules for all students. Landmark: 705-722-6666.

Landmark Bus information:

1.     Please remember to have students at their bus stop 10 minutes before their scheduled pick up (also parents, please be at stops 10 minutes ahead of afternoon drop off as bus drivers are not to wait for parents but to proceed along their scheduled route and to contact the school office for assistance. This assists drivers in staying on schedule. Thank you!

2.     Landmark drivers will need a letter from parents if an older student (sibling or other) will be walking younger students home from the bus stop - this includes any students up to grade 4. The school’s and Landmark’s default is that students in grade 4 and above can be dropped off at the bus stop to walk home/wait for parents independently.

3.     Landmark will only release students to parents unless prior written permission has been given by the parents directly to the driver, or for a ‘one-off’ situation by the office for another parent/friend to pick up your child(ren) from the bus stop.

4.     Parents, you are welcome to call Landmark Bus Lines Barrie (our bus company) anytime the buses are on the road to check in with dispatch on an ETA. Landmark’s contact: 705-722-6666.  When possible, the office will send an email to bus route families to inform them of any delays… Please be patient with us as we are updating our route email lists in the office.

Our annual Terry Fox School Run is set for the morning of Monday, September 28.

We’ll begin in the gym with a chapel hosted by Mrs. Murray/Mrs. Jacobs’ Gr. 5 class, and then it’s off to the track for loads of laps!

Wear: We’d like everyone to show their Canadian pride by wearing red and white.

Bring: ‘Toonies for Terry’ as we aim to beat our 2025 results with a new donation goal of $2,800 for cancer research!

We need a few parent volunteers to help stamp hands during laps, so if you can assist, please email Kelly Duff at kduff@trinitychristian.ca.

Let’s follow the courageous example of Terry and the words from Hebrews 12:1 and ‘run with perseverance the race marked out for us’!

Bradford Greenhouses Fundraising Campaign

When you are shopping for fall gardening and lawn supplies and home decor, please remember our fundraising program with Bradford Greenhouses (in Barrie or in Bradford). Before the cashier starts to ring through your purchases, please mention that you would like your purchase to support Trinity Christian School as this is the final few weeks of last year’s program. The funds raised will benefit the full school.  Thank you!

re-Source Thrift Shop North & South

Volunteer, shop or donate — your support helps make Christian education accessible by supporting tuition. Visit either location to serve our community and find great treasures.

We very much appreciate the dedication and support of the staff and volunteers at both re-Source Thrift Shops! Trinity is financially supported by both. We thank everyone that shops, donates, and volunteers at both locations. Both shops are always looking for volunteers who can commit to a few hours each week to help with pricing, organizing, checking electronics, and on the cash register. Please contact the Managers at either store if you are interested in volunteering.

Volunteering, shopping, and donating gently used items, makes a lasting impact on Christian Education in Barrie!

Parents, this is a great place to volunteer a few hours a month/week to get to know the Trinity community. The Shops donates monthly to the school. These donations impact how much you pay for tuition… So please consider volunteering a few hours each week. The shop would love to have you join the team.

The Shops are looking for donations of gently used clothing and housewares. Please drop them off at the shops during office hours. Please be aware that the shop does not take the following items:

Give to re-Source Thrift Shop and let them know it’s for Trinity Christian School.
