Grade 6 - Grade 8
As we prepare students for high school, we want them to be equipped to be able to "take captive every thought" to follow Christ with their whole hearts and minds. Using the Careful Thinking Curriculum from Foundation Worldview, we equip students to be able to recognize and discern objective and subjective claims, look at whether those claims follow the laws of logic, and consider the evidence for those claims.
We then help them learn to confidently communicate the claims of the Christian worldview in a loving and gracious manner to their friends and classmates as they move on to secondary school.
IGNITE AND LIVE GOD’S MISSION
Turn belief into Spirit-powered practices of love, service, discernment, and courageous witness.
GRADE 6
Creation, Identity &
Morality
-
Creation is intentional, which means life has meaning, boundaries, and dignity from its Maker.
-
We weigh each origin story by evidence, coherence, and alignment with Scripture.
-
Being image-bearers gives every person worth and includes God’s good design for male and female.
-
God cares for our physical lives and our inner lives, calling us to honor Him with both.
-
Morality flows from who God is, so our emotions and preferences must be guided by His unchanging goodness.
-
We compare moral claims across worldviews against the clear standards God gives in the Bible.
Biblical Truths & Foundational Principles
GRADE 7
Foundations of Careful
Thinking
Biblical Truths & Foundational Principles
-
Loving God with our minds means using reason and Scripture to seek truth.
-
Testing ideas before believing them helps us avoid being captured by attractive but empty claims.
We test every idea against God’s Word, so we won’t be shaped by “hollow and deceptive” ways of thinking.
-
A claim is true whether we like it or not, so we look for solid evidence and sound logic.
Since God is truth, claims must match reality as He created it, not our preferences or pressures.
-
Logic is a good gift that reflects God’s order.
Must identify the argument, ensure all information is provided, and that it is non-contradictory.
These basic rules of thought promote clarity, prevent confusion, and expose contradictions.
-
If an idea sets a rule, it should obey that rule and align with reality.
A Christian worldview must follow God’s rules and align with both Scripture (special revelation) and creation (general revelation).
-
We assess arguments with reasons and Scripture while showing Christlike charity toward the people who hold them.
We assess arguments respectfully and rely on reasons, not personal attacks or emotions, to decide.
GRADE 8
Practicing Discernment & Communication
Biblical Truths & Foundational Principles
-
Jesus is Lord of truth, so we measure every claim by Scripture rather than crowds or titles.
Truth depends on reality and evidence, not crowd size or famous names.
-
We respect expertise while submitting conclusions to the facts of God’s world and the authority of His Word.
Remember, experts hold their own worldview, which will impact their claims.
We value expertise while still checking the facts and reasoning behind every claim.
-
Good knowledge rests on reliable data, coherence with experience, and repeated verification.
-
Fair evaluation honors God’s character; we embrace the better-supported view that aligns with biblical truth.
Fair-minded learners compare competing reasons and ask the hard questions. Seeking answers from a view that does not waver or change.
-
We communicate with gentleness, courage, and listening hearts so our words reflect Jesus’ compassion and integrity.
Our goal is to help, not just win, so we communicate with kindness, curiosity, and teachability.
-
Disciples let God’s Word reshape their minds.
Humility welcomes correction from Scripture and sound reason, allowing the Spirit to form Christlike thinking.
Following truth means changing our minds when stronger evidence in the bible shows we’re wrong.
